Audi is one of the most trusted German Automobile brand. Audi AG is the part of BMW group and it positioned as a premium brand.This article examines the new technologies they are planning to implement in future models such as Aud S, S7, S8 and A6.

Cylinders on Demand

Audi have developed a new type of engine. It works by using "cylinders on demand". It is expected implement on the new Audi S, S7 Sport back and S8 which will be released early next year in Britain the engine will effectively convert to a V8 when the car is being driven with great acceleration and performance purposes. The cylinder deactivation or "shut off" will be applied when the Audi driver is cruising, making it a V4 engine car. It has been stated that the camshaft will be changed to different profiles in order to suit the engines current status. The result of it car will run as a four cylinder if the engine reads that there is minimal effort needed to push the vehicle.

The new Audi engine likely to  save on fuel  and reduce pollution to the environment. This also  reduce on the kerb weight of the car too. It is a very innovative and at the same time interesting development from Audi.

The new Audi A6 features a lightweight body with many aluminium components. Based on an intelligent composite construction concept, the body is extremely lightweight, rigid and safe. The numerous aluminium components and the high-tech steels reduce its weight. For Audi, lightweight design is a fundamental technology for the sustainable mobility of the future.

 Though the Audi claims "Cylinder on demand "engine is a new type of technology, it is said to have been used by another German car giant, Mercedes-Benz. Around 15 years ago, Mercedes-Benz developed it and it is likely to be implemented on their new 5.5 Litre V8.

Developing an engine of two halves that literally transform itself different type is nothing short of extraordinary. It will surely enhance the reputation of the brand and will be building block for the future Audi range.
